COMMISSIONS AND MICRO GRANTS
LADFN offers grants for films and creative projects for artists based in Liverpool.
In October 2022 we put a call out offering 2 Micro Grants to black filmmakers.
We are excited to announce our awardees!

The Delado Project
Elliss J
This short documentary produced by Elliss J is supported by LADFN. It documents a reunion of an Afro-Caribbean performance collective formed in Liverpool that pierced through the racial tension and marginalisation of Toxteth in 1981.
Based on the profound trajectory of Delado, the documentary will paint the picture of who they were, the environment that birthed it, the effectivity of their work and the obstacles they were faced with. Highlighting their interchangeable roles as students and teachers.

TAYO ALUKO

Tayo Aluko performed 2 one- man shows with the support of LADFN at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival: Call Mr. Robeson and Just An Ordinary Lawyer

Black Heavy Metal
This project will capture the emergence of black artists in Heavy Metal - a music genre which rarely centres black voices. Focusing on black band member Kadeem Francis in Loathe, it will explore the rejection he faces despite the ever growing popularity and success of the band. How does a black artist achieve success in the UK music scene?

Josh Ramsden, pronouns He/Him is 25 years old. He was born is the south west of England but relocated to Liverpool with my family in 2010. As a freelance creative, his passion lies with visual art, in particular film and photography.
"I the components of film, where the behind the scenes and process or 'practice' can build on collaboration and communitas, in turn contributing to an unfiltered and authentic representation of humans and their expression, which I endeavour to capture and showcase on screen.
Thus far, my work has explored themes around race and inequality, the lived experience of a black male, and promotional material for grassroots organisations and CICs. Recent commissioned works have included "BAME: A conversation with St. Helens", a short film that explored the said term, attitudes, preconceptions and understanding its consequences. Ongoing works are centred around elevating the voices and lived experiences of the global majority in the Liverpool City Region. I am currently in the final stages of a documentary film that looks at the Generations 4 Change project, a collaborative effort with Capoeira for All, Curious Minds and LCRCA."
